Pr&aacute;v\u011b ti, kte\u0159&iacute; ne\u017eij&iacute; ve stereotypn&iacute;ch irsk&yacute;ch \u010d&aacute;stech &#8211; Irov&eacute;, kte\u0159&iacute; \u017eij&iacute; v Lutonu nebo Sloughu nebo kter&eacute;mkoliv z m\u011bst v ji\u017en&iacute; Anglii, kde maj&iacute; tendenci se v&iacute;ce asimilovat. \u017dil jsem v Lond&yacute;n\u011b skoro 10 let, moje \u017eena je Lond&yacute;\u0148anka, a m&aacute;m to m\u011bsto nesm&iacute;rn\u011b r&aacute;d. M&aacute; ohromuj&iacute;c&iacute; hudebn&iacute; a liter&aacute;rn&iacute; minulost. Tak\u017ee h&aacute;d&aacute;m, \u017ee Lond&yacute;n roku 1980 je tak trochu postavou rom&aacute;nu Par&aacute;dn&iacute; j&iacute;zda.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Hudba je d\u016fle\u017eitou sou\u010d&aacute;st&iacute; nejen Par&aacute;dn&iacute; j&iacute;zdy, ale hodn\u011b znamen&aacute; i pro v&aacute;s osobn\u011b. Jak to za\u010dalo?<\/strong> <\/span><\/em><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Kdy\u017e mi bylo dev\u011bt nebo deset, m\u011bl jsem u\u010ditele jm&eacute;nem Jarlath Dowling. U\u010dil v hudebn&iacute; &scaron;kole na p\u0159edm\u011bst&iacute; Dublinu, kterou jsem nav&scaron;t\u011bvoval. Bylo to fyzicky velk&yacute; mu\u017e, pln&yacute; emoc&iacute;. Puccini ho dok&aacute;zal rozplakat, Mozart nebo Rolling Stones ho rozesm&iacute;vali. M\u011bl bych taky zm&iacute;nit, \u017ee byl katolick&yacute;m kn\u011bzem, a jako takov&eacute;ho ho z&aacute;pal pro Rolling Stones \u010dinil n\u011bk&yacute;m neobvykl&yacute;m, obzvl&aacute;&scaron;t\u011b pro 70. l&eacute;ta v Irsku. Vzpom&iacute;n&aacute;m si, jak na h\u0159i&scaron;ti zp&iacute;val Brown Sugar a vyz&yacute;val n&aacute;s, abychom se k n\u011bmu v refr&eacute;nu p\u0159idali. &ldquo;Yeah, yeah, yeah, Wooooo!&rdquo; Dobromysln&yacute; \u010dlov\u011bk s rozja\u0159en&yacute;ma o\u010dima. Jeho milovan&eacute; nahr&aacute;vky od The Dubliners nebo Sweet hraj&iacute;c&iacute; Ballroom Blitz jej nutily radost&iacute; ml&aacute;tit rukama do vzduchu. Pustil n&aacute;m ve t\u0159&iacute;d\u011b nahr&aacute;vku a vedl imagin&aacute;rn&iacute; orchestr zubn&iacute;m kart&aacute;\u010dkem. Napodoboval trumpety, tuby nebo banjo. Miloval hudbu, v&scaron;echny jej&iacute; druhy. Vzru&scaron;ovalo ho, kdy\u017e o n&iacute; mluvil. Kdy\u017e ji pou&scaron;t\u011bl, jeho obli\u010dej se zm\u011bnil. Ob\u010das n&aacute;m \u0159&iacute;kal, &ldquo;Tohle je jeden z d\u016fvod\u016f, pro\u010d \u017e&iacute;t.&rdquo; Bach, Bowie nebo Abba, Chopin nebo &Scaron;ostakovi\u010d, Fats Waller nebo Louis Armstrong nebo Jimmy Durante, \u017e&aacute;nr nehr&aacute;l roli. Pamatuji si, \u017ee jednou poznamenal n\u011bco, \u010demu jsme v t&eacute; dob\u011b mohli jen st\u011b\u017e&iacute; rozum\u011bt: &ldquo;Na sv\u011bt\u011b nen&iacute; smutn\u011bj&scaron;&iacute;ho \u010dlov\u011bka ne\u017e toho, kter&yacute; nikdy nemiloval hudbu. Hudba je to, co d\u011bl&aacute; sv\u011bt skv\u011bl&yacute;m.&rdquo; Tak\u017ee to bylo nad&scaron;en&iacute;, kter&eacute; mnou rezonovalo i v tak n&iacute;zk&eacute;m v\u011bku.<br \/><\/span><br \/><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Zaj&iacute;mali se va&scaron;i rodi\u010de o hudbu?<\/span><\/strong><\/em><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">M&iacute; rodi\u010de milovali hudbu, zejm&eacute;na klasickou a folkovou a styl Franka Sinatry. Jejich sb&iacute;rka desek p\u016fsobila jako sb&iacute;rka ps\u016f do cel&eacute;ho sv\u011bta p\u0159&iacute;b\u011bh\u016f. Byl jsem d&iacute;t\u011btem, kter&eacute; milovalo knihy a psan&eacute; slovo ve v&scaron;ech podob&aacute;ch, ale \u017e&aacute;dn&yacute; ver&scaron;, kter&yacute; kdy b&aacute;sn&iacute;k napsal, nemohl soupe\u0159it s Colem Porterem. &ldquo;Jak zvl&aacute;&scaron;tn&iacute; je zm\u011bna z dur na moll poka\u017ed&eacute;, kdy\u017e se lou\u010d&iacute;me&rdquo;. \u010casto si mysl&iacute;m, \u017ee d\u016fvod, pro\u010d jsem se cht\u011bl st&aacute;t b&aacute;sn&iacute;kem, byla chab&aacute; nad\u011bje, \u017ee jednoho dne budu schopen napsat ver&scaron; tak bolestn\u011b pravdiv&yacute;, jako je tento.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">A co va&scaron;i sourozenci?<\/span><\/strong><\/em><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">M&aacute; sestra Eimear hr&aacute;la na harfu a pi&aacute;no, m\u016fj bratr John byl buben&iacute;kem. A pak m&aacute; nejmlad&scaron;&iacute; sestra, Sinead, vyrostla v nejsiln\u011bj&scaron;&iacute; irskou zp\u011bva\u010dku sv&eacute; generace. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Te\u010f, kdy\u017e je mi p\u0159es pades&aacute;t a pod&iacute;v&aacute;m se zp\u011bt na sv&eacute; d\u011btstv&iacute; a dosp&iacute;v&aacute;n&iacute;, zd&aacute; se mi, \u017ee v&scaron;echny ty &scaron;\u0165astn&eacute; dny obsahovaly hudbu. Jedno odpoledne se \u010dty\u0159i z n&aacute;s obl&eacute;kli jako The Bay City Rollers, vy&scaron;plhali jsme z okna m&eacute;ho pokoj&iacute;ku na st\u0159echu a zahr&aacute;li improvizovan&yacute; koncert zmaten&yacute;m soused\u016fm. Asi jsme nebyli ani zdaleka tak dob\u0159&iacute; jako The Beatles na st\u0159e&scaron;e Apple building ve filmu Let it be. Ale na d\u011bti to nebylo tak zl&eacute;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Jednou v noci jsme se Sinead pop&aacute;t&eacute; poslouchali Slow Train Coming od Boba Dylana, jednozna\u010dn\u011b jedno z nejlep&scaron;&iacute;ch alb jeho mistrovsk&yacute;ch d\u011bl. Byli jsme tak omr&aacute;\u010deni jeho rukopisem a zp\u011bvem, \u017ee jsme nebyli schopni mluvit, a jen jsme tu desku p\u0159ehr&aacute;vali znova a znova. Vzpom&iacute;n&aacute;m si na divokou p&yacute;chu p\u0159i sledov&aacute;n&iacute; Eimear hraj&iacute;c&iacute; na harfu na &scaron;koln&iacute;m koncert\u011b a &uacute;\u017eas, kdy\u017e jsem poslouchal bratra, jak bu&scaron;&iacute; do bic&iacute;ch. Hudba je &uacute;\u017easn&aacute;, sbli\u017euje lidi, a to i ve zl&yacute;ch \u010dasech. Je to zp\u016fsob, jak udr\u017eovat konverzaci bez pot\u0159eby mluvit. Hudbu milujeme tak hluboce proto, \u017ee v \u017eivot\u011b jsou okam\u017eiky, kdy nem&aacute;me slova. Hudba zklid\u0148uje, hoj&iacute;, vzru&scaron;uje, t\u011b&scaron;&iacute;, odhaluje na&scaron;e lep&scaron;&iacute; str&aacute;nky a zaceluje r&aacute;ny. Je t\u011b\u017ek&eacute; to popsat, proto\u017ee si \u017eije vlastn&iacute;m \u017eivotem. Nezn&iacute; jako nic jin&eacute;ho. Je nejabstraktn\u011bj&scaron;&iacute; z forem um\u011bn&iacute;, a\u010dkoliv existovala nap\u0159&iacute;\u010d v&scaron;emi spole\u010dnostmi, kter&eacute; kdy vznikly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Mysl&iacute;te, \u017ee z um\u011bn&iacute; je nejd\u016fle\u017eit\u011bj&scaron;&iacute;?<\/span><\/strong><\/em><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Nev&iacute;m, jestli nejd\u016fle\u017eit\u011bj&scaron;&iacute;, ale ur\u010dit\u011b nejuniverz&aacute;ln\u011bj&scaron;&iacute;. Ne ka\u017ed&yacute; \u010dte fikci, chod&iacute; do galeri&iacute; nebo studuje sochy. Ale skoro ka\u017ed&yacute; miluje hudbu n\u011bjak&eacute;ho druhu. Chci \u0159&iacute;ct, velmi z\u0159&iacute;dka potk&aacute;te n\u011bkoho, kdo \u0159&iacute;k&aacute;: &ldquo;Nev&iacute;m o hudb\u011b nic&rdquo; nebo &ldquo;Nem&aacute;m r&aacute;d \u017e&aacute;dnou hudbu&rdquo;. Kdy\u017e k tomu dojde, s nerv&oacute;zn&iacute;m &uacute;sm\u011bvem vycouv&aacute;m. Skoro v\u017edy jde o osoby, jejich\u017e hladina empatie je pov&aacute;\u017eliv\u011b n&iacute;zk&aacute;.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Nap\u0159&iacute;klad zp\u011bv &#8211; existuje n\u011bco z&aacute;zra\u010dn\u011bj&scaron;&iacute;ho? Jedin&aacute; hudba stvo\u0159en&aacute; t\u011blem sam&yacute;m, vstupuje do na&scaron;ich srdc&iacute; jako nic jin&eacute;ho na zemi. Poslechn\u011bte si Arethu Franklin zp&iacute;vaj&iacute;c&iacute; You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman nebo Jussiho Bjorlinga zp&iacute;vaj&iacute;c&iacute;ho &aacute;rii, a v&iacute;te, \u017ee my jako druh, navzdory v&scaron;&iacute; marnosti a n&aacute;sil&iacute;, nejsme opice, tak\u017ee jestli je tu slabost a k\u0159ehkost, je tu taky nad\u011bje a kr&aacute;sa. Ano, sv\u011bt m&aacute; sv&eacute; d\u011bsy. Ale taky m&aacute; Bessie Smithovou a Johna Lennona. Kurt Vonnegut p\u0159im\u011bl jednu ze sv&yacute;ch postav \u0159&iacute;ci, \u017ee jedin&yacute;m p\u0159&iacute;pustn&yacute;m posl&aacute;n&iacute;m um\u011blce je u\u010dinit lidi vd\u011b\u010dn\u011bj&scaron;&iacute;mi za \u017eivot. P\u0159i dotazu, zda by jmenoval um\u011blce, kter&yacute; to dok&aacute;zal, odpov\u011bd\u011bl: &ldquo;Beatles to dok&aacute;zali.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Stal jsem se romanopiscem, ne muzikantem (na&scaron;t\u011bst&iacute;), ale v\u011b\u0159&iacute;m v hudbu slov. Shakespeare, Emily Bront&euml;, Scott Fitzgerald, Kingsley Amis, Dickens, Flannery O&rsquo;Connor, Colm T&oacute;ib&iacute;n, Anne Enright, ti v&scaron;ichni maj&iacute; svou hudbu, pokud poslouch&aacute;te. V&scaron;ichni m&aacute;me soundtrack, zp\u016fsob, jak si zapamatovat. Mo\u017en&aacute; cestu, jak se dr\u017eet bl&iacute;zko t\u011bch, kter&eacute; jsme milovali nap\u0159&iacute;\u010d bou\u0159emi ml&aacute;d&iacute;.
